What is True Orthodoxy?
And why don't they teach you about it in school? A brief look at the UK perspective.
What is True Orthodoxy?
Put simply, the True Orthodox Church is the Church founded by our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Whilst it is true that many lay claim to this title, no other Church is able to historically trace their roots back to the Holy Apostles without interruption or change.
For the True Orthodox, faith is a matter of simplicity and not confusion. To quote St John of Damascus, God Himself is simple, unconfused, that is to say, He is just God. The Church then, is just the Church. There are no maybes, no compromises. History is simple. Behind everything you will find the devil and his children working to enslave mankind, and the true followers of the Lord Jesus attempting to free themselves and others from this slavery .
The Holy Fathers, the Holy Apostles and their successors laid down the canons or rules of the Church and Church life in the first few centuries of the Church’s existence, and those rules have been added to in places, over the years, as new challenges have presented themselves to the Church, but not changed.
The Church itself is the divine house of the Holy Spirit. If the Church reaches a decision on something, then that is that.
The modern age, particularly from the 20th century, posed many challenges and a coordinated effort to dismantle the Holy Church, break Her unity. These challenges came from the realms of philosophy, the political realm, the ‘scientific’ realm, and, perhaps most upsetting of all, from the great many impersonators of the True Church that have sprung up since the Roman church first tried to declare herself head and chief of all the Churches of God, and in so doing ceased to be a Church of God, and became instead a church belonging to the prince of this world - the devil.
The latin church of the popes has been fighting very hard so make sure no one in the West finds out their dirty little secret - that they fell away from the True Orthodox Church nearly one thousand years ago. They kept their vast material wealth, the unearned inheritance of old Rome, and within one hundred years of going rogue had their own army.
The popes oversaw the next one thousand years of constant war and politicking across the West. We can see that the fruits of this behaviour are bitter indeed. The Vatican bank remains unaudited to this day, and it is an open secret that they have been hand-in-glove with all the dark dealings of the 20th century, from the rise of the Nazis, to several genocides, to international drug and people trafficking. Rest assured the previous 800 years or so were much the same.
Let’s not even get into the endless abuse scandals. That has been a feature of these disgusting impersonators ever since.
Crusaders from Rome sacked the great True Orthodox city of Constantinople in the fourth crusade in 1204, stole much of her wealth, and weakened the great city to such an extent that its eventual fall to the Turks was all but inevitable, even if it took another 200 years.
In the United Kingdom everyone is taught the most famous date in history is 1066, yet no one (Rome’s control our Universities and education systems is not a mater of debate - she founded the Universities) is ever taught that just 12 years before, in 1054, Rome declared herself a heretic church by claiming, amongst other things, superiority over the rest of the Church. The Normans came to England to enforce the new Papal world order, and to murder anyone who stood in their way. Their payment?
The Kingdom.
Rome based her claim to authority on forged documents - the False Decretals. Although even Rome now admits they were forged, for hundreds of years they were considered authentic. Lanfranc, the first Norman-appointed Archbishop of Canterbury in England has been found to have had a copy of these very False Decretals.
Tragically, the English were a pious people and truly Orthodox… once upon a time, producing a dizzying array of saints in the few hundred years that was the flowering of Orthodoxy and the laying of the foundation of this green and pleasant land of polite farmers, butchers, bakers, carpenters, plumbers and metal-workers. Many of these Saints are only remembered now in the names of the places they founded - St Albans, Bury-St-Edmunds, Felixstowe, Edinburgh, St Ives (St Ia’s), Hybaldstowe, to name a few.
The disparate, warring kingdoms were brought to peace through brotherhood in Christ Jesus - the True Orthodox faith. No English are ever taught that their kingdom is Orthodox at the root - not ‘Roman Catholic’, but simply Catholic meaning Universal as the True Orthodox Church still is. Yes Rome was our chief Church and through her we were given the Faith - St Gregory the Great, of Rome, is remembered as one of the Apostles to the English for sending St Augustine to us, and also as the Pope who warned that any pope or hierarch who claimed the title of ‘Universal Bishop’ as the Roman Popes now do, was a forerunner of Antichrist.
Yes, our services were in latin, that was the lingua franca of the whole Western Roman Empire as was. But we were Orthodox, that is the faith of our fathers. One of our greatest Archbishops of Canterbury was St Theodore of Tarsus - hailing from the Christian East - the same place as the Apostle Paul of Tarsus.
Many English ended up fleeing to Constantinople to become the True Orthodox Emperor’s private guard - the Varangian Guard. The Norman Conquest was a religious war. More correctly, it was a purge and a genocide of those faithful to the True Church of God - the True Orthodox Church. The first of many ordered or sponsored by the antichrist Popes.
Short, simple, to the point and perfect!
