Never has the Church of Christ been so encompassed by enemies as today: in Eastern Europe, subject to the Communist yoke, whose aim is the liquidation of the Church; in the free world, enticed by the false promises of ecumenism, holding out to unwary Orthodox the bait of a new ‘Union’. This is truly the darkest hour in the history of the Orthodox Church - From the Orthodox Word #1
Wow.
It is perhaps a pointless argument as to which point in time is worst, or darkest - now or then. You don’t miss what you’ve never had, after all, and this was written quite a while before I was born.
What I do know is that the Communists abandoned the liquidation strategy, temporarily at least, and went instead for total parasitic infestation and subversion. The aim is the same - the establishment of the one world religion of antichrist.
For my part, it is in some ways difficult to imagine how bad it must have been to see Orthdoxy so well represented in many ways across the free world (at least by ROCOR, and, for a while, the Serbian Church), and to see those hard-won post-revolutionary gains being thrown away or taken over by ecumenists.
I think it is possible that, thanks to the internet, during my journey to the true Church, I was able to absorb rather more information in a shorter time than was available to Father Seraphim Rose at the time that he wrote this.
Did he know about the Old Calendarist miracle of the appearance of the Holy Cross? Things were generally happening more slowly in those days, and so much of what happened from the point of the Bolshevik revolution onwards was not really clear at the time.
The Greek disaster of Asia Minor, following on as it did from the Turkish revolution (conveniently timed to allow the beleaguered once-Ottomans-now-Turks to renege on all their post-war agreements with the Greeks) is a case in point.
The ‘allies’, by all rights, surely should’ve turned round to the Turks and said, hang on a second, just because you’ve swapped out your Caliph for a Freemason doesn’t mean you can start fighting against the allies again, but by then, for some reason the smouldering conflict was no longer a World War, and of course has since been reclassified as the “Turkish War of Independence”. That’s the power of re-branding. Freemasonry at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.
But therein lies our clue, yes, if you are a Freemason then of course you can do that, because you are serving the real agenda of the Illuminati - the bringing down of all the Christian Monarchies of Europe. In fact, the point of the 20th Century was simply to bring down all the Theocratic Autocracies (I’m including here the Ottomans, the Kuomintang of China, and the God-Emperors of Japan) - that was the net result, and therefore, we can safely assume, the aim all along.
A pagan or even Arian autocracy is far more susceptible to conversion to the true Faith than a godless secular democracy. See St Constantine the Great, St Vladimir of Kiev (Basil in Holy Baptism), King Ethelbert of Kent and so on. If you convert the King, Caliph, Emperor, whoever, you convert the whole nation.
Remove autocracy, install democracy. Then demonise autocracy. Quite straightforward.
Democracy, you see, is the system that is most easily bought out and corrupted with money, whilst simultaneously being held up as the most ‘representative’ form of government. Ah, the devil, how he lies.
All this, was, I think not entirely clear at the time that Father Seraphim Rose was writing. I think it is very ironic that his most famous quote about it being ‘later than you think’ was especially correct, even for him - it was later than he thought, and he thought it was later than most other people, even and especially Orthodox, seemed to think!
To follow the pattern (and I only put myself in such company by dint of the fact that I also am writing about these things) it is later even than I think!
Gosh. That means we’re in trouble folks! :-)
Let us then remember the promises of God and His great mercy.
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou out to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up ; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money : that take, and give unto them for me and thee. - Matthew 17:27
Who have you reviled and blasphemed?
Against whom have you raise your voice, and against whom have you lifted your eyes on high?
Against the holy one of Israel. - 4 Kingdoms 19:22
And it came to pass that night that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand : and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses - 4 Kingdoms 19:35
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen - Romans -15:33
Of course if you are in the True Church it doesn’t matter. The gates of Hades shall not prevail.
The truth is that we weren’t so sure some years ago where the whole thing was going… Now we have no excuse to refuse to accept the fact that we have remained very few in a Church that is shrinking in number but preserving the True Faith!
